What We Do

Zen.Dog Massage Services

Making your pet comfortable is our #1 priority here at Zen.Dog Massage. Just as with massage therapy and physical therapy for humans, these therapy options are touch techniques intended to improve physical and mental health. These improvements come when the body releases endorphins—during the session—which are natural chemicals that relieve pain in the body, creating an analgesic effect. Zen.Dog Massage offers both massage and physical therapy options for pets with a variety of conditions, including soft tissue injuries, inflammation, chronic pain, and neuromuscular or muscular dysfunctions.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy has been practiced for centuries on humans, but has only recently been used on animals to produce the same positive effects. It involves focused touching on a targeted area of the body, with emphasis on pressure and direction. Our animal massage practitioner uses her hands, arms, or elbows as well as range of motion techniques during massages to create the desired effect. She also can perform sports massage therapy for agility, hunting, or working dogs. Sports massage is a healing application of hands-on deep tissue methods to the voluntary muscle system. Various techniques can be incorporated with our massage therapy services, depending on your pet’s condition.

Physical Therapy

Pet physical therapy involves using anatomy and basic principles of physical therapy to increase mobility, function, and overall quality of life. Just as with human physical therapy, animal physical therapy can incorporate any combination of various exercises and other options to create the desired effect. These can include balance exercises, strengthening exercises, coordination exercises, and passive range in motion (PROM). Depending your pet’s specific condition, we can use one or more physical therapy techniques.
